Dravik Makaar

Dravik Makaar, known among the Frostguard as The Still Flame, is the current commander of the Frostguard and master of Baraz-Darak-Sul, the last operational Lonely Tower of Khazural’s northern frontier. Though only thirty-one years of age, he is regarded as one of the most formidable and determined Frostguard of his generation.

Dravik assumed command after defeating the former leader, Gotrik Murazan, in formal challenge and taking stewardship of the northern vigil three years ago.

He is the youngest known Frostguard commander in recent memory.

Early Life

Dravik was born in a small eastern coastal settlement near the abandoned Lonely Tower of Baraz-Darak-Valdur, one of the long-deserted northern watch-fortresses of Khazural.

Raised in the shadow of a forgotten tower and on tales of the Frostguard’s eternal vigil, he developed an early fascination with the order and the purpose it represented. Unlike most who join the Frostguard through royal assignment or exile, Dravik sought the order willingly. In his eighteenth year, he crossed the treacherous passes of the Elderspine alone and arrived at Baraz-Darak-Sul to petition for entry into the Frostguard.

He was accepted.

Service

Dravik served thirteen years within the Frostguard before ascending to command. During his first decade of service, he earned a reputation for unusual courage, relentless discipline, and open disdain for complacency within the order. Though respected for his skill and conviction, he was often regarded as too young and too idealistic by senior members.

That perception ended when he formally challenged then-commander Gotrik Murazan, declaring him unfit to lead the Frostguard in an age of decline.

Dravik won the challenge. Gotrik survived and remains within the order as a common Frostguard.

Leadership

As commander, Dravik has sought to reverse centuries of institutional stagnation within the Frostguard. Where his predecessors accepted the order’s slow decline as inevitable, Dravik believes the Frostguard must be restored to their former purpose and strength. He has repeatedly advocated for expanded recruitment, renewed funding, and the restoration of the abandoned Lonely Towers across Khazural’s northern frontier.

Few share his optimism. Fewer still believe the Ember Throne will ever commit the resources required.

Personality

Dravik is known for his fearlessness, conviction, and refusal to accept defeatism. Though disciplined in Frostguard tradition, he lacks the detached fatalism common among many of the older order. Where others see the Frostguard as a final dying flame, Dravik sees them as the first spark of renewal. This idealism has earned him admiration among younger Frostguard and skepticism among veterans.

Reputation

Within the Frostguard, Dravik commands deep respect. Even those who disagree with his ambitions acknowledge his strength, courage, and legitimacy of rule. His victory over Gotrik Murazan and his unwavering commitment to the vigil silenced most opposition within the order.

Beyond Baraz-Darak-Sul, however, few in broader Khazural pay significant attention to him or his cause. To most, the Frostguard remain a remote and largely ceremonial institution. Dravik sees this indifference as the greatest threat facing the order.

Ambition

Dravik’s singular ambition is the restoration of the Lonely Towers. He dreams of reactivating the abandoned northern watch-fortresses, rebuilding the Frostguard into a true frontier order once more, and reestablishing Khazural’s forgotten northern defenses before the kingdom remembers too late why they were built.

Whether this vision is foresight or obsession remains uncertain.

Legacy

To some, Dravik Makaar is a young fool chasing dead traditions. To others, he is the only man in generations who still believes the wall can become more than a monument.
