Eromin Vetch

Eromin Vetch is the leader of Vigil, the guild responsible for internal order, law enforcement, and investigation within Ravenhold. Under his direction, Vigil operates as an independent authority focused on evidence, verification, and control. He exists in a form that defies conventional life and death. His consciousness is bound to a rune-marked skull contained within a suspended lantern of violet crystal. Since assuming this form, he has reshaped Vigil into a disciplined and effective institution.

Appearance

Eromin manifests as a human skull suspended within a six-sided lantern constructed of dark metal and violet crystal. Runes are etched across the bone, emitting a steady internal glow. Aetheric energy binds the structure together, allowing it to hover without sound. His eyes burn with a controlled violet flame. He does not move when speaking. His voice is perceived directly, clear and measured, without physical origin.

The lantern moves with precision, often positioning itself at eye level when addressing individuals. Its light is recognizable throughout Ravenhold and carries a distinct implication.

Personality

Eromin is analytical, direct, and persistent. He treats conversation as a process of extraction rather than exchange. He does not rely on intimidation, though his presence often produces it. Instead, he applies pressure through questioning, contradiction, and controlled silence.

He does not express anger. Disapproval is conveyed through tone and timing rather than volume. His priorities are clarity, truth, and order. Personal concerns, emotion, and negotiation are secondary unless they affect outcome.

Role in Ravenhold

Eromin oversees all operations of Vigil, including investigation, interrogation, and the enforcement of internal law. He maintains the guild’s independence from mercantile influence and political pressure. Decisions are based on evidence and verification rather than position or status. Vigil functions as the judicial core of Ravenhold. Under Eromin, its processes are structured, consistent, and difficult to manipulate. Criminal activity within the city is influenced less by punishment and more by the expectation of being found.

History

Records of Eromin’s life prior to his current state are limited. Available documentation identifies him as an arcanist specializing in binding and post-mortality preservation. During the early instability of the Third Age, he performed a ritual intended to preserve his consciousness beyond physical limitation. The result was permanent.

Following this transformation, he assumed control of Vigil and restructured it from a disorganized watch into a formal investigative body.

Reputation

Within Ravenhold, Eromin is understood as unavoidable. Citizens associate his presence with the conclusion of disputes. Criminals associate it with exposure.

He cannot be bribed, pressured, or diverted. His methods are consistent, and his outcomes are rarely in doubt. Across Grimhold, he is regarded less as an official and more as a constant.
