Riven Kael
Riven Kael is the captain of the Gravetide Company, Ravenhold’s primary force responsible for managing divine remnants, corrupted terrain, unstable relics, and post-Godwar anomalies. He is an undead individual preserved through ritual binding, retaining full awareness and function. His condition allows direct interaction with corruption that would be lethal to others.
Appearance
Riven Kael is a tall figure wearing layered furs reinforced with damaged armor plates. His equipment is secured with bone and metal bindings. His skin is pale and shows visible stitching along the jaw and neck from post-mortality reconstruction.
He wears a tarnished helm and rarely removes it. His eyes emit a steady blue glow. His movements are controlled and precise. He carries a worn longsword used for utility rather than display.
Role in the Gravetide Company
Riven Kael oversees all Gravetide Company operations. The Company is responsible for containment and neutralization of divine remnants, stabilization of corrupted environments, management of cursed sites, elimination of hostile manifestations, control of post-mortality instability, and secure handling of hazardous artifacts. All operations are documented and stored within sealed records in the Red Barracks. His jurisdiction applies wherever divine contamination is present.
History
Riven Kael served in early post-Godwar containment operations. During a mission in the White Border, he was exposed to necrotic corruption and rendered non-viable. A Gravetide detachment performed a preservation ritual, stabilizing his condition and preventing uncontrolled reanimation. Following recovery, he continued service with increased resistance to corruption.
Reputation
Within Ravenhold, Riven Kael is associated with controlled risk and containment. Within the Gravetide Company, his authority is not challenged. Across Grimhold, his presence indicates active management of divine threat zones.
