The Creation of the Saren

The Creation of the Saren marks the first deliberate act of divine creation performed by the Pantheon. Unlike the life that had naturally arisen throughout Arkanthys after the departure of the Creators, the Saren were formed intentionally by the gods. They were not born from the land, nor did they evolve over time. The Saren were shaped directly through divine will, becoming the first civilization created to serve the vision of the Pantheon.

Their creation transformed the relationship between gods and the world. Until this moment, the Pantheon had influenced Arkanthys only indirectly, shaping natural forces and exploring their domains. With the birth of the Saren, the gods established the first society that existed under direct divine guidance. This event marked the true beginning of organized civilization in the world.

The Pantheon did not create the Saren out of necessity, but out of ambition.

As the gods grew more aware of their power and influence, they began to seek ways to impose structure upon the world. The natural life that existed across Arkanthys lacked coordination, unity, and purpose. To the gods, the world appeared vast but directionless.

Thalor, the Bright King, was the first to propose the creation of a race capable of building, governing, and organizing the world according to divine order.

The Saren were created to fulfill this purpose.

They were designed to possess intelligence, adaptability, and the capacity to build complex societies. Unlike The Seidr of the First Age, who acted as curators of the natural world, the Saren were intended to become architects of civilization.

The First Children of the Pantheon

The Saren were shaped through the combined influence of the five gods, though Thalor’s vision defined their ultimate purpose.

From Thalor they inherited ambition and the instinct to establish hierarchy and governance.

From Kassira they inherited a sense of justice and the belief that law must be upheld through strength.

From Elunys they inherited awareness of mortality and the understanding that life carries meaning because it ends.

From Ylara they inherited language, memory, and the capacity to preserve knowledge.

From Drax they inherited the unpredictable spark of personal will, the ability to challenge authority and reshape destiny.

Together these influences produced a race capable of both order and rebellion, discipline and ambition.

The Saren were not merely servants of the gods. They were a reflection of the Pantheon itself.

The Birth of Civilization

The first Saren communities formed under the direct guidance of the Pantheon. The gods taught them language, governance, agriculture, and construction. Early Saren settlements grew rapidly, guided by divine instruction and protected by the authority of the gods who watched over them.

Within generations these settlements began to transform into structured societies. The greatest of these would eventually become Ostagar, the first true city of Arkanthys and the foundation of the earliest empire. Through the Saren, the Pantheon achieved something they had not accomplished through their own power alone: the creation of a world shaped by civilization rather than wilderness.

With the rise of the Saren, the relationship between the gods and the world fundamentally changed. For the first time, divine authority was not expressed only through natural forces or distant influence. It was embodied through a civilization that recognized the gods as its Creators and rulers.

The Saren did not merely live within the world of the Pantheon. They built it. Their cities, laws, and institutions would become the foundation upon which later civilizations were formed.

And through them, the age of divine dominion truly began.
